The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AmCham) will be hosting the AmCham Ball for the 20th consecutive year tonight at the Cinnamon Grand Oak Room, Colombo.
The theme for this year’s Ball is ‘Greater Together,’ which celebrates the strong bonds between the United States of America and Sri Lanka. The event is considered a premiere black-tie event that boasts a five-course sit-down dinner and is considered to be one of the most significant events in Colombo’s social calendar that attracts the crème of society.
The occasion will be graced by US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Atul Keshap and other officials of the US Embassy, a number of dignitaries and other special guests.
The main sponsors for the event are Dialog and Citibank, with Sysco Labs as the silver sponsor. Part of the proceeds of the AmCham Ball will be donated to the ‘AmCham Gives Back’ project, a CSR initiative by AmCham which was launched in 2014 to support a worthy cause.
This year, the Chamber is supporting the CPS Boys Development Centre by contributing towards structural refurbishment, purchasing of new computers and funding the education of the children at the centre. A new element, a silent auction, will be introduced at this year’s Ball, which will also go towards funding ‘AmCham Gives Back’.
An autographed bat by Sri Lanka’s former skipper Kumar Sangakkara and a painting by the renowned artist Marie Alles Fernando will be the two items that will be auctioned off at the event. Great care is being taken to create the correct atmosphere from the décor to the food, and the entertainment will be provided by Misty, Flame and Tanuja Perera. The night offers fun, laughter and entertainment with exciting giveaways like airline tickets, hotel stays, dinners for two, and much more. At the time of going to press, there were only a handful of tables available. For more details please contact the AmCham Secretariat on 2300116/7, or email [email protected].
