117 SLPP MPs pledge support to MR

117 SLPP MPs had pledged support for Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in the presence of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at last night’s meeting held at the President’s House, Over 100 MPs who attended the meeting had pledged their support with several others who could not attend giving verbal assurances on the phone that they will stand with the PM and the current cabinet.

The meeting was called by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa amidst calls for the PM and the cabinet to step down .

However so such discussion had taken place as the PM had said he has the support of the majority of MPs and there was no reason for him to step down.
