The Immigration and Emigration Department today extended the visas for foreigners in Sri Lanka till 11 June. The latest directive is applicable to all visa types and comes into effect from 12 May, the department said in a press release. “Please be informed that, the validity period of all types of visas has been extended for another period of 30 days with effect from 12 May 2020 to 11 June 2020," the statement said.
All the applicants were advised to pay the relevant visa fee and get the visa endorsed by securing an appointment via https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/vs on or before 11 June. All the visas which expire between 7 March to 11 June, will be exempted from charging overstay penalty. The department said only those who possess an appointment will be permitted to enter the office premises.
“Please be noted that a limited number of appointments will be given per day and the applicants shall be present at the department 15 minutes prior to the allocated time.
If an applicant is unable to be present at the given time, the appointment becomes invalid after a 10 minute of grace period. In such circumstances, the applicants shall not be allowed to enter the Department premises and shall obtain a new appointment.”
