Two new COVID-19 cases were identified a short while ago, bringing the total count of positive cases to 148.
There are now 124 active cases in the country, with 21 recoveries. A total of 231 individuals are under observation in hospital.
The third COVID-19 death was reported last night and the individual was a 73-year-old male resident of Maradana. According to the Department of Government Information, he passed away while being transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) from Sri Jayawardena Hospital, where he tested positive for COVID-19.
The individual had diabetes, high blood pressure, and chronic kidney failure during the time of death.
