Two persons recovered from COVID-19 today, bringing the number of recoveries since 10 a.m. yesterday to 18 and total overall to 215.
Of the 18 patients, 14 were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), three from the Welikanda Base Hospital, and one from the Colombo East Base Hospital.
The recoveries have dropped the number of active cases to 547. According to the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit, 135 of these patients are currently receiving treatment at the Navy Hospital, 133 at the NIID, 91 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, 60 at the Homagama Base Hospital, 59 at the Kathankudi Base Hospital, 52 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 17 at the Iranawila Hospital.
This includes the 16 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 during the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today and the report states that all 16 were identified through active surveillance in the community. Of them, only one was symptomatic.
Fifteen of the new patients are Navy personnel or their close contacts, bringing the total COVID-19 patients identified from this group since 22 April to 372.
The total count of confirmed cases in the country is now 771. Of the cases, 342 are Navy personnel. 64 were identified among local communities at quarantine centres and 41 among overseas arrivals at quarantine centres. The district distribution of the confirmed cases shows 153 from the Colombo District, 35 from Puttalam, 35 from Gampaha, and 34 from Kalutara.
In addition to this, 153 suspect patients remain hospitalised, including 19 at the Negombo District General Hospital, 17 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, and 15 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
