Seven new recoveries brings total to 77

Seven more persons have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 77. Of the seven, five are from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) and two from the Colombo East Base Hospital, states the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit.

Meanwhile, six new cases - all from the Colombo District - were identified between in the 24-hour period ending 10 a.m. this morning, taking the number of active cases in the country to 160. This includes 84 at the NIID, 41 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 20 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 15 at the Iranawila Hospital.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country stands now at 244, of which 55 are from the Colombo District, 45 are from Kalutara, and 35 from Puttalam.

A total of 103 persons remain hospitalised as suspected COVID-19 cases - this includes 15 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, 14 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, and 11 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

The number of hospitalised suspect patients has seen a significant drop from yesterday, with 148 persons now under observation.
