Seven COVID-19 positive cases reported in last 24 hours

A total of seven new COVID-19 patients were reported in the 24-hour period ending at 10am today, bringing the total count of positive cases to 166 with 132 active cases. Today’s situation report by the Epidemiology Unit stated that 97 of the active cases are at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 22 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 13 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital.

The area distribution of the confirmed cases show that 35 persons are from the quarantine centres, 42 from the Colombo District, 27 from Puttalam, 25 from Kaluthara, and 11 from Gampaha. Three locals and one foreigner recovered and were discharged within the last 24-hour period and the total number of recoveries in the country is 29. The report also states that of the 259 suspect cases, currently hospitalised, 68 are at the Homagama Base Hospital, 20 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 19 are at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
