Pumpkins distributed among low income families in Colombo

The Government has decided to distribute pumpkins to low income families in Colombo District, the Government Information Department said in a statement.

Accordingly, 150 tons of pumpkin will be distributed in all 13 divisional secretariats in the Colombo District.

As the first phase, 17,000 kgs in Kotte Divisional Secretariat and 14,000 kgs in Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat were distributed today, it said.

The Government had already allocated Rs. 20 million to purchase pumpkins from farmers at Rs. 40 per kilogram.
