No new COVID-19 patients for last 24 hours

Public health authorities today confirmed that there were no new COVID-19 diagnosed patients reported in Sri Lanka over the last 24 hours.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus remains unchanged at 102, with one Chinese national and two Sri Lankans going home after recovering. The 24 hours was completed at 8am today.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 255 individuals remain under observation in hospital and the latest situation reported by the epidemiology unit shows that 100 of these patients are at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). The Epidemiology Unit report states that 88 of the 99 confirmed cases are at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH), while 10 are in Welikanda, and one is in Mulleriyawa. In addition to the 33.3% of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Sri Lanka are in the 41 to 50-year old age group; 68% are male and 32% are female. The district distribution of the confirmed cases shows that Colombo has 22 cases, Kalutara has 14, and Gampaha has 10.

All three districts were declared high-risk areas yesterday. The quarantine centers reported a total of 34 individuals testing positive for COVID-19.
