National Film Corporation to issue grants for film hall owners

The National Film Corporation (NFC) plans to issue a grant of Rs. 100,000 per month to film halls that have registered with the Corporation, the NFC said in a press release today.

According to NFC General Manager Nilanga Vithana, the Corporation plans to offer the grant for a period of three months. Under the proposed grant scheme, registered film hall owners will receive a grant of Rs. 50,000 a month for payment of wages and maintenance, while another Rs. 50,000 will be issued as an interest free loan to be repaid in 10 instalments, the press release stated. Further, the NFC has made arrangements to remit the Rs. 5,000 allowance paid to 160 registered motion picture artists before the third day of each month. The NFC has also planned to deliver packages of dry rations and essential medicines worth Rs. 5,000 to artists in the coming days.
