More Navy personnel test COVID-19 positive

Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe today clarified that of the total 29 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, 24 were from Sri Lanka Navy.

Additionally, five of these positive cases were associates of Navy personnel as well.

The tally of coronavirus cases detected in Sri Lanka now stands at 797 and 573 active cases are currently under medical care at select hospitals across the country.

To-date 232 of these patients have recovered from the virus.

The country has confirmed nine deaths due to COVID-19 so far.

The isolation of Abhayapura in Polonnaruwa due to the COVID-19 outbreak has been removed today, said Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva.

On 22 April, 12 villages in Polonnaruwa District were put under isolation following the detection of a COVID-19 patient from Pumadiya village in Abhayapura. In addition, 43 persons from this area were directed to quarantine centres.
