MOD cancels leave of armed forces

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) issued orders this afternoon, cancelling the leave of armed forces personnel and recalling them immediately.

“The Defence Ministry has cancelled leave and short passes granted to all officers and other ranks of the Tri-Services with immediate effect and directs all personnel to report to their respective camps immediately,” the MOD said in press release on its website.

According to the MOD, the Secretary of the Ministry, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne issued the directive to the Commanders of the three forces and the cancellation and recall is applicable to all officers and other ranks in the forces.
