Grace period granted for traffic violation fines

The Government today announced a grace period till 2 May for the public to pay fines for motor traffic violations.

The Government Information Department said that fines issued on or after 1 March will get a grace period till 2 May. “Fines for tickets issued from 16- 29 February will also get a grace period with a standard late fee,” stated a media release. The payment grace period for those in the high-risk districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Puttalam - all of which are still under 24-hour curfew - will be announced at a later date, added the release.
