The Government today decided to extend the curfew for five districts in the North till 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Issuing a press release, the Presidential Media Division (PMD) stated that the districts of Mannar, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Jaffna will have the curfew extended. However, the curfew will be reimposed at 2 p.m. on the same day. Persons in each district are barred from travelling to neighbouring districts.
According to the PMD, the move is aimed at enabling health authorities to detect those who were in contact with a pastor who had visited the region from Switzerland and was later identified to be positive for COVID-19. The Government urges all residents of the five districts to assist public health officials and Police to identify those who were in contact with the pastor.
