The Government has extended the Work from Home arrangement by another week till 20 April as part of overall measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The Work from Home arrangement was first introduced effective 23 March and has been extended weekly since then to ensure social distancing.
At the time of the initial announcement, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases were 59. Three weeks later, the figure has tripled to 210 with seven dead and 56 recovered. Over 150 persons are currently under investigation for COVID-19 in hospitals and 1,455 persons remain in 12 quarantine centres.
The mitigation measures in Sri Lanka have been commended as they have contained a far riskier spread though the imposition of the curfew has crippled businesses and livelihoods of many.
