The GMOA says it is necessary for at least 80% of the total population to be indoors in their homes for the next 14 days to prevent the community transmission of the coronavirus.
“It is the responsibility of both the Government and the citizens of Sri Lanka to adhere to the advice of the WHO during the course of the next 14 days and thus prevent the disease from proceeding from stage 3 (a) of the disease to stage 3 (b) or 4,” the Government Medical Officers' Association 9GMOA) said in its suggestions put forward to manage the current COVID-19 crisis in the next 14 days from 26 March onwards.
This disease condition has been classified into four stages, namely: (1) No cases, (II) Sporadic cases, (iii) Clusters (a) homes clusters (b) small group clusters, and (iv) Community transmission. Sri Lanka is at present at stage III (a) home clusters transmission level.
