In an effort to facilitate all undergraduates in State universities to continue their education, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) to provide free internet service for all university students registered for e-learning.
Issuing a statement, the President Media Division (PMD) said relevant details of registered students have already been provided to the TRCSL by the University Administration and the University Grants Commission. Quoting TRCSL Director General Oshadha Senanayaka, PMD stated that steps have been taken for this program to commence tomorrow.
The statement further said that until the prevailing situation in the country returns to normalcy, internet facilities will be thus provided free-of-charge.
