Four more COVID-19 cases confirmed

Four new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been identified today, bringing the total to 214 from 2010 yesterday.

The four had been on quarantine at the Punani Centre after having associated with a person infected with COVID-19.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau the number of active COVID-19 cases is 151 and 117 individuals are currently under investigation in hospitals.

Previously 56 people recovered and were discharged whilst seven people have died of COVID-19.

The Government said last week that 1,455 persons remain in 12 quarantine centres managed by the armed forces. Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi is optimistic that the Government can identify all COVID-19 patients by 19 April.
