Five more persons test positive for COVID-19

Five more persons tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 309 and active cases to 202.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, the active cases include 92 at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 36 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 30 at the Kattankudy Base Hospital, 19 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 18 at the Iranawila Hospital. The five new patients are in addition to the 33 patients identified in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today.

Two patients from the Colombo East Base Hospital and one from the Welikanda Base Hospital have recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 100.

According to the Unit’s situation report, which looks at data from 10 a.m. yesterday to 10 a.m. today, 158 suspect patients were hospitalised, including 31 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, 19 at the Homagama Base Hospital, and 17 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Teaching Hospital.
