The first group of people who were quarantined two weeks ago have been released and allowed to return to their homes, the Army said today.
The group of 311 persons, made up from 108 from Kandakadu and 203 from Punani quarantine centres, left for home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine period, the military said in a short statement.
The people were released from quarantine after receiving a final medical check up.
Over 3,100 people remain in quarantine at 45 quarantine centres. An additional 15,000 people are estimated to be in self-quaratine.
