The Sri Lanka Embassy in the United Arab Emirates has assured due care for Sri Lankans amidst the spread of COVID-19. In a statement, the Embassy said the Government of Sri Lanka appreciates the role played by the Government of UAE to assist Sri Lankan nationals in the Emirates. The Sri Lanka Embassy has noted a few video clips circulating in social media which on verification were found to be factually incorrect.
The Embassy said Sri Lankan nationals who test positive to COVID-19 are taken to hospitals and quarantine centres which are well managed and have a high-quality standard. The Sri Lankan Embassy, Sri Lanka Consulate General Office together with the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, welfare organisations and other community and religious organisations are also assisting with the distribution of dry rations and other necessities to Sri Lankan nationals. The Embassy has urged all concerned to verify reports from either the Sri Lanka Embassy or the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office, for circulation.
