Colombo remains the source for the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 120 patients, followed by Kalutara with 58 and 35 from Puttalam, the Epidemiology Unit said today in its latest report.
The report also noted 20 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 330.
Of the new cases, 13 were identified from the Kalutara District, five from the Colombo District, and one each from Polonnaruwa and Gampaha. According to the latest situation report released by the Epidemiology Unit, a total of 120 cases have been identified from Colombo, 58 from Kalutara, and 35 from Puttalam.
There are currently 218 persons receiving treatment, including 91 at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 44 at the Kathankudi Base Hospital, 36 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 20 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 18 at the Iranawila Hospital. Nine are in the process of being sent to a treatment facility.
Only one recovery was recorded since 10 a.m. yesterday and this was from the NIID. This brings the total number of recoveries to 105.
In addition to this, 173 suspect patients are currently hospitalised, including 22 at the Homagama Base Hospital and 12 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Teaching Hospital. The Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, and Kalutara District General Hospital have 11 persons each.
