The total number of COVID-19 cases reached 190 today, the Health Ministry said, after one more person was diagnosed with the virus.
The Health Ministry also said two more people had been discharged after recovery, bringing the total number of people who have recovered to 49. The number of active cases stands at 134 with 242 people hospitalised.
According to the situation report by the Epidemiology Unit, of the total confirmed cases, 44 are from the Colombo District, 34 are from Puttalam, and 26 are from Kalutara.
The report also states that 92 of the active cases are at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (NIID), 27 are at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 16 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital.
Five recoveries from the NIID were also reported within the 24-hour period, bringing the total recoveries to 47. At present, a total of 242 suspect patients remain hospitalised, including 40 at the Homagama Base Hospital, 25 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, 21 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 16 at the Kalutara District General Hospital.
One COVID-19 death, a 44-year-old resident of Mount Lavinia, occurred last night, bringing the total count to seven.
