Twenty-two new persons have tested positive for COVID-19 today, bringing the total count of confirmed cases in Sri Lanka to 915, the Health Ministry said.
Of the total confirmed cases, 480 are Navy personnel. In addition to this, 66 persons among local communities and 45 among overseas arrivals at quarantine centres have tested positive, the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit said.
A total of 63 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today, bringing the total count of recoveries in the country to 445.
This includes 44 persons who were receiving treatment at Navy Hospital, five at the Homagama Base Hospital, five at the Welikanda Base Hospital, four at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), three at the Colombo East Base Hospital and two at the Iranawila Hospital.
The situation report states that 26 new cases were identified since 10 a.m. yesterday and were identified through active surveillance in the community. All of the 26 new cases are Navy personnel from the Welisara camp. According to the Epidemiology Unit, of the 607 cases identified since 22 April, 514 are Navy personnel and their close contacts.
The new cases has increased the number of active cases to 461, of which 193 are at the Navy Hospital, 111 are at the NIID, 78 are at the Colombo East Base Hospital, 39 are at the Homagama Base Hospital, 32 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital, six are at the Iranawila Hospital, and one is at the Kattankudy Base Hospital.
The number of patients identified from the Colombo, Gampaha, and Puttalam Districts remains unchanged at 150, 36, and 35 respectively.
The situation report also states that 108 suspect patients are under investigation at various hospitals, including one foreigner at the Teaching Hospital Ragama, 19 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, 13 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), 13 at the General Hospital Chillaw, 12 at the Negombo District General Hospital, seven at the Castle Street Teaching Hospital, six at the Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, five at the Kotelawala Defence University Hospital, four each at the Gampaha District General Hospital and Teaching Hospital Kurunegala, three each at the Teaching Hospital Ragama, National Hospital Kandy and District General Hospital Kalutara and Colombo East Base Hospital, two each at the NIID, Teaching Hospital Ratnapura, Teaching Hospital Kalubowila and one each at the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Lady Ridgeway Hospital, De Soysa Maternity Hospital, District General Hospital Polonnaruwa, Chest Hospital Welisara, and Base Hospital Marawila.
