Active cases drop to 156 with 14 recoveries

Ten more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the 24-hour period ending at 10.00 am today, but the number of active cases dropped to 156 due to 14 recoveries during this period. According to the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit, 11 persons from the Colombo East Base Hospital and three from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) were discharged following recovery.

This brings the total recoveries in the country to 91. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, Sri Lanka’s recovery rate is 35.83%. The number of active cases is currently 156, of which 88 are at the NIID, 41 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 18 are at the Iranawila Hospital, and nine are at the Colombo East Base Hospital. The new positive cases have increased the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases to 254.

Of these 254 cases, 61 are from the Colombo District, 45 are from the Kalutara District, 35 are from Puttalam, and 31 are from Gampaha. In addition to this, 122 suspect patients are currently hospitalised, including 17 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, 14 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, and 11 at the Homagama Base Hospital.
