A total of 66 persons have been discharged from several hospitals since 10 a.m. yesterday, having fully recovered from COVID-19.
According to the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit, 52 persons were discharged from the Kattankudy Base Hospital, five from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), four from the Navy Hospital, three from the Homagama Base Hospital, and two from the Welikanda Base Hospital.
This brings the total recoveries in the country to 321 and creates a drop in active cases, which is currently 517. Of these patients, 197 are at the Navy Hospital, 115 at the NIID, 85 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, 54 at the Homagama Base Hospital, 45 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 13 at the Iranawila Hospital, and seven at the Kattankudy Base Hospital. One patient is in the process of being sent to a treatment facility.
Twelve more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, and half of them were asymptomatic. They were all Navy personnel or their close contacts, bringing the total patients identified in this group since 22 April to 449.
The total count of confirmed cases is now 847, of which 416 are Navy personnel, 65 are from local communities at quarantine centres, and 42 are from overseas arrivals at quarantine centres. In addition to this, 150 were identified from the Colombo District, 36 from Gampaha, and 35 from Puttalam.
The Epidemiology Unit’s report also shows that 116 persons have been hospitalised over COVID-19 suspicions, and 18 of these persons are at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, 12 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, and 10 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.
