Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the bulk of the new cases were Navy personnel from the Welisara camp.
According to Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, 180 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from the Navy, among them 112 from the Welisara camp and 68 from those who were on leave.
With the latest set of patients, the number of active COVID-19 cases has reached 448 with 295 hospitalised with virus-like symptoms. A total of 126 people have recovered and been discharged, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
