5 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new recoveries, bring active cases to 124

Five new COVID-19 positive cases have been identified since 10 a.m. yesterday, bringing the total count from 143 to 148, the latest Epidemiology Unit report said today.

In addition to this, three persons have recovered and the number of recoveries is now at 21, the latest situation report by the Epidemiology Unit states.

While three deaths have been reported, including one in the last 24 hours, 124 active cases are in hospital. Of these, 100 are at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, 12 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 12 are at the Colombo East Base Hospital.

A total of 251 suspect cases are also under observation at various hospitals, including 68 at the Homagama Base Hospital, 28 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 20 at the Negombo District General Hospital.
