144 high risk residents of Akurana moved to quarantine centres

A group of residents from Akurana in Kandy have been moved to quarantine centres as a precautionary measure. According to the Army Commander Lt. Gen Shavendra Silva, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had advised the Army to move 144 persons from Akurana who were deemed high risk contacts, to quarantine centres.

According Silva, the move comes after a number of confirmed cases were detected from the village, which has been isolated, in the last few days. Isolation regulations of Atalugama are also strictly enforced by the Police and Army. General Silva urged the public not to conceal their symptoms from medical professionals and to strictly adhere to the curfew regulations. He stressed that the public must act responsibly at times of national crisis.
