Fifteen persons have recovered from COVID-19 since 10 a.m. yesterday, including ten new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 172.
Seven of the recoveries were from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), seven from the Welikanda Base Hospital, and one from the Iranawila Hospital.
The number of active patients now stands at 511, with 140 at the Navy Hospital, 133 at the NIID, 78 at the Colombo East Base Hospital, 59 at the Kattankudi Base Hospital, 51 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 33 at the Homagama Base Hospital, and 17 at the Iranawila Hospital.
In the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today 25 persons tested positive for COVID-19, 20 of which were identified through active surveillance in the community. Five were identified through hospital samples collected when the individuals were admitted with clinical signs or symptoms. The number of patients identified since 22 April has risen to 379, of which 296 are Navy personnel or their close contacts. Yesterday’s situation report by the Epidemiology Unit showed only 273 among this group.
The total count of confirmed patients is 690, of which 217 were from the Welisara Naval Base. Looking at district distribution, 160 were identified from Colombo, 65 from Kalutara, and 53 from Gampaha.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 179 suspect patients are currently hospitalised, including 19 at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, 18 at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, and 15 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
