10 new COVID-19 cases reported in last 24 hours

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 176, with 10 new cases reported within the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. today.

The latest report by the Epidemiology Unit states there are 137 COVID-19 patients hospitalised, of whom 98 are at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 27 are at the Colombo Ease Base Hospital, and 12 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital.

Of the COVID-19 positive cases, 44 are from the Colombo District, 31 are from Puttalam, and 25 are from Kalutara. In addition to this, 35 individuals are from the quarantine centres.

Five individuals have recovered during the 24-hour period, bringing the total recoveries to 34. This includes four individuals who were receiving treatment at NIID and one receiving treatment at the Colombo East Base Hospital.

The report also states that 257 COVID-19 suspected patients have been hospitalised. Of the total number, 43 are at the Homagama Base Hospital, 24 are at the Gampaha District General Hospital, 23 are at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, and 23 are Negombo District General Hospital. A total of five deaths have been recorded in the country.
