Sri Lanka’s tea production in May declined by 5.5% to 30.6Mn/Kg year-on-year, resulting in the cumulative tea crop for the first five months to be lower by 10.5% to 128.29Mn/Kg.
According to Ceylon Tea Brokers Plc elevation wise analysis shows that in May high growns crop rose by 0.05Mn/Kg whilst medium growns declined by 0.31Mn/Kg and low growns by 1.54Mn/Kg respectively when compared to the same period last year.
January to May tea crop was down 9.5% at high growns level and by 14% at medium growns and 10% at low growns.
CTCs production rose by 0.74 Mn/Kg in May to 2Mn/Kg.
