Sri Lanka to join the International Tropical Fruits Network

Sri Lanka plans to obtain the membership in the Malaysia-based International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet), which facilitates the expansion of international trade of tropical fruits. International Tropical Fruits Network is a regional development organisation established under the auspices of the World Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and is acting as a network to promote the productions productivity, processing, marketing, quality, consumption and International trade of tropical fruits. TFNet is an expanding network with 145 members from 38 countries and 12 of them are country members. Bangladesh, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Sudan, Syria, Vietnam, and Australia are the county members of the network. Cabinet recently approved a proposal made by Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to obtain membership of the organisation.
