The Government last week decided to hold the annual meeting of International Rubber Study Group in Sri Lanka in 2018.
Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake’s Cabinet proposal to hold the event in Sri Lanka in 2018 was given the nod by the Cabinet of Ministers this week.
Established in 1944, the International Rubber Study Group is an inter-governmental organisation composed of rubber producing and consuming stakeholders. Headquartered in Singapore it consists of 36 member countries including Sri Lanka and 120 industrial members.
In order to facilitate the interaction between the industry and the Group, a Panel of Associates with members of organisations involved in the rubber industry has been established. Member Governments are Republic of Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, The European Union (28 Member States), India, Japan, Nigeria, Russian Federation, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
