Sarnia Plaiderie sets all-time record price

Sarnia estate is situated in the Badulla/Hali Ela sub district of the UVA planting district. It borders the Randenigala Reservoir and the wildlife

sanctuary of Randenigala and nestles on the eastern slope of a picturesque mountain range. The estate rises from an elevation of 900 meters at the lowest to 1180 meters at the highest point and falls within the UVA Medium Elevation Category. At this week’s tea auctions, a line of BOP1 grade from Sarnia Estate, selling mark Sarnia Plaiderie, established an all-time record price of Rs. 1,000 per kg for a line of BOP1 grade in the Uva Medium Elevation Category. This surpassed the previous all-time record price of Rs. 960 per kg. The buyer of this line of tea was Tea Tang Ltd. Sarnia Estate is owned and managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC, which also owns and manages the best reputed marks which produce Uva flavour teas sought after by connoisseurs of tea world over. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd. conducted the sale of this line of tea.
