At this week’s tea auctions, a line of BOP1 grade from Sarnia Estate, selling mark Sarnia Plaiderie, established an all-time record price of Rs. 1,000 per kg for a line of BOP1 grade in the Uva Medium Elevation Category. This surpassed the previous all-time record price of Rs. 960 per kg. The buyer of this line of tea was Tea Tang Ltd.
Sarnia Estate is owned and managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC, which also owns and manages the best reputed marks which produce Uva flavour teas sought after by connoisseurs of tea world over.
Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd. conducted the sale of this line of tea.
