Orient Financial Services Corporation Ltd. has launched a community-based lending activity in Kilinochchi in order to uplift livelihood of farmers.
Following the restoration of peace in the north, the company has identified its priorities in emerging economies and its sectors.
“Being a young and fast growing leasing establishment in the country, which counts nearly a decade of financial experience, Orient has been able to identify financial solutions to uplift livelihood of farmers in the north,” said a senior official.
“Farmers are being educated with new technology, how to manage their cash-flows and the repayment of lending products has been designed according to their income pattern based on seasonal income,” he added.
Farmers in Kilinochchi envisage a bumper harvest during Maha season which can be reaped before the rainy season or any natural disaster with minimum of labour cost, capitalising on the lending hand given by Orient Leasing.
