An Open Forum titled ‘Agricultural Prices and Productivity: How can our farmers make a better living’? will be held on 26 July from 5p.m. to 7.30p.m. at the OPA Auditorium, 275/75, Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7
“The end of the war three years ago has opened up many opportunities for the Sri Lankan economy. Have these opportunities been fully exploited? And what are the constraints? This question will be addressed at the Open Forum,” said a spokesman for the organizers the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Economic Association (SLEA).
The speakers are: University of Peradeniya Department of Agricultural Economics and Business Management Head Prof. L.H.P. Gunaratne; Ministry of Housing and Construction Former Secretary and OPA Founder President Dr. Nath A.M. Amarakone; People’s Organisation for Development Import and Export Negambo Director Tyrell Fernando and Ministry of Agriculture Additional Secretary, Agriculture and Technical Development Dr. D.B.T. Wijerathne.
The open forum provides an opportunity for open discussion between experts and members of the public on topics of current interest. Prof. A.D.V. de S. Indraratne, President, Sri Lanka Economic Association has taken the role of the host and facilitator for this Open Fora.
