Sri Lanka tea production for the month of October 2010 totalled 26.6 m/kgs., which ironically was same as the corresponding month of previous year.
Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said high grown production have shown a decline YoY whilst Medium and Low growns show an increase as against the corresponding month of 2009.
January-October 2010 cumulative production totalled 274.5 m/kgs showing a gain of 39 m/kgs vis-a-vis 235.5 m/kgs of 2009. High grown production for the period totalled 63.9 m/kgs thus showing a gain of 5.1 m/kgs vis-a-vis 58.8 m/kgs.
Mediums with a total of 44.9 m/kgs for the period have shown a growth of 9.68 m/kgs when compared to 35.2 m/kgs recorded during the same period of 2009. Low growns with a total of 162.9 m/kgs show a significant gain of 23.4 m/kgs vis-a-vis 139.5 m/kgs of 2009.
CTC production for the month of October 2010 totalled 1.38 m/kgs showing a gain of 0.08 m/kgs as against 1.30 m/kgs recorded during the corresponding month of 2009 whilst the cumulative production for the period January-October 2010 totalled 15.1 m/kgs showing a gain of 2.33 m/kgs vis-a-vis 12.8 m/kgs of 2009.
Medium and Low grown production in 2010 show a noteworthy growth over the corresponding period of 2009. High grown production, however, show a decline as against 2009 for the period under review.
