11 February marked the beginning of the 26th International Exhibition for Food, Beverages, and Food Raw Materials (PRODEXPO), which will be held until 15 February at the Expocentre in Moscow.
As in previous years, with the support from the Sri Lanka Tea Board, the Tea Promotion Unit of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organised a Ceylon Tea stand, where representatives of Sri Lankan tea companies, namely A.F Jones Exporters Ceylon Ltd., UHE Exports Ltd., Ceylon Tea Land Ltd., Unitrades Ltd., and Ceylon Fresh Teas Ltd., are displaying their products.
Moreover, companies such as Ceylon Fresh Teas, Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, Hayleys Tea Company, Global Products, Imperial Tea Exports Ltd., Shan Teas Ltd., and Stassen Exports Ltd. are also participating in the PRODEXPO 2019 this week.
The Ceylon tea stand was officially opened by Ambassador Extraordinary Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Sri Lanka to Russia Plenipotentiary Madame Sanja Jayatilleka and delegates of Sri Lankan tea companies, having lit the traditional oil lamp. Afterwards, the Ambassador addressed the gathering with a welcome speech, during which he pointed out the value of Ceylon tea and its role in the formation of the image of Sri Lanka on the global arena and underscored the importance of further promotion of Ceylon tea among Russian consumers.
The PRODEXPO exhibition, which is annually held in Moscow, is considered to be one of the most popular exhibitions for food, beverages, and food raw materials in Russia with more than 2400 exhibitors from 69 countries and serves as a ground for foreign enterprises to explore the Russian food market and to establish direct connections with retailers, distributors and other representatives of various industries.
