The market continues to recognise the best teas on offer and stylish Low Growns attracted premium prices once again at the Colombo Tea Auction held from 11-13 November.
An invoice of New Vithanakande OP1 improved its own record for this grade by achieving Rs. 1,800 per kilogramme.
With this week’s record price, this is the seventh time that New Vithanakande has achieved a record price this year. New Vithanakande also holds the record for BOP1 grade.
The New Vithanakande Tea Factory is located in the Delwala hills of the Sabaragamuwa region and is owned by the family of the late N.B.H. Pilapitiya.
This line of tea was purchased by Vintage Teas Ceylon Ltd. and successfully marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities Plc.
