A Chauffeur Guide Training Program is conducted annually, since 2016 by Walkers Tours, a premier destination management company in Sri Lanka, with over 48 years of industry experience, in partnership with a renowned training institute.

Vasantha Leelananda, Executive Vice President/Sector Head – John Keells Holdings said, “Walkers tours has always been at the forefront in uplifting the standards of the tourism industry in Sri Lanka. With this objective in mind, we initiated the Chauffeur Guide Training Programme two years ago to bring in individuals outside the industry to be the next ambassadors of the country. We have successfully trained over 30 individuals through this programme and we are looking forward to inducting 25 individuals through next year’s program.”

The 25 applicants chosen will go through an extensive training programme over a period of six months, giving them the required knowledge and skills to become fully fledged chauffeur guides. The training will be in the form of classroom and practical sessions, virtual and familiarisation tours, as well as assessment centres.

Upon successful completion of the program, the participants will receive a certification issued by the training institute, co-signed by Walkers Tours and Cinnamon Hotels. This initiative will encourage all participants to enter the National Chauffeur Guide Training Program, to obtain their National Chauffeur Guide Licence.

“The best training program from the pioneers of tourism, that gave me all the skills to get a head start in my new career as a Chauffeur Guide,” said Miron Cader from the first batch.

The third intake of the Chauffeur Guide Training Programme will commence in January 2018. Applications can be sent in on or before 24 November to [email protected], or contact us on 0112306466 for further information.
