Trevor Rajaratnam elected President of Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka

Trevor Rajaratnam, Chief Executive Officer of Travel7 Ltd. was elected as the President of the Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL) at the 42nd Annual General Meeting held in Batam Island, Indonesia for the year 2017/2018 period. George Steuart Travel Ltd. Senior Director Channe Wijemanne was elected as the Vice President. 

The following persons were elected to the Executive Council of TAASL; Nishantha Senaveratne, General Manager of Aitken Spence Travels Ltd.; Romesh Samaranayake, General Manager of BOC Travels Ltd.; Suresh Mendis, Chief Executive Officer of Classic Travels Ltd.; Faris Deen, Chief Executive Officer of Gabo Travels Ltd.; Niranjan Dalpethado, General Manager of Hayleys Travels & Tours Ltd.; Riza Ahamat, Director/General Manager of Hemas Travels Ltd.; Jude Conrad, Managing Director of Himpras Tours  Ltd.; Sanjay Weerakoon, Chief Executive Officer of Mackinnons Travels) Ltd.; Hasitha Duminda Peiris, General Manager of Metro Travels & Tours Ltd.; Duminda Lowe, Managing Director of 2nd Chance Travels Ltd.; Tillak Wickramasinghe, Managing Director of Skyways; Omar Shibly Shamsudeen, Director Operations of Traveller Global Destinations & Leisure Holidays Ltd.; Kapilanath Kalapuge, Director of Upul’s Travel Service Ltd.; and Wilhelm E. Brown, General Manager of Alpha Travels & Holidays Ltd., as the Immediate Past President.

The AGM was followed by cocktails and a dinner reception at the Swiss-Bel Hotel, Harbour Bay. The event was sponsored by SriLankan Airlines, LOLC General Insurance Ltd., and Indonesia Tourism.

TAASL was formed in 1974 as a body to represent the interests of the Sri Lankan travel agencies and at present the association has a membership of 149.
