Launching of Mannar as tourist hub by National Chamber and WUSC

The launching ceremony of MIC Tourism (Mannar Improving Competitiveness) will be held on Wednesday, 25 July from 3 to 5 p.m. at BMICH-Cinema Hall in the presence of distinguished guests, VIPs, ministers and prominent personalities. Entrance will be free of charge.

The program is co-hosted by The National Chamber of Commerce and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) with the support of Mannar Chamber of Commerce, The Hotel Association of Sri Lanka, Alumni Association of Tourism Economics, Hospitality Management, etc. 

Minister of Tourism Development John Amaratunga will be the Chief Guest. Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen will be the Guest of Honour.

The objective of this program is to highlight Mannar as a major tourist destination and the following marketing tools will be launched at the event: MIC tourism tour guide brochure, Discover Mannar video, MIC tourism promotional video song, and a traditional fashion show with handicrafts of women.

The launch will highlight the Madhu Church, Wilpathu National Park, historic temples, kovils, Dutch period lighthouse, fishing harbour, Portuguese/Dutch fort, Adams Bridge, bird watching, boat riding, and a host of other sites identified as having considerable tourism potential in that area, showcasing Mannar as a tourist attraction hub.
