Kuwait Airways platinum partner for French Spring Festival 2019

Kuwait Airways, the national airline of Kuwait and an airline whose impressive and colourful history in Sri Lanka spans over four decades, is now set to bring a taste of Parisian culture to Sri Lanka. The airline recently signed an agreement with the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka as airline partner for the French Spring Festival 2019.   

The French Spring Festival, a long-running event organised jointly by the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Alliance Française de Kotte, has become one of the country’s most well-known and recognised events and one of the most anticipated foreign cultural events in Sri Lanka, attracting over 3,500 visitors over its one-month duration. The event this year, under the theme of ‘Bridges between France and Sri Lanka’ is scheduled to commence on 14 June with the opening night at the Residence of France will feature a one-of-a-kind piano concert by famous pianist Shani Diluka, a French classical pianist from Sri Lankan parents. She will present ‘Cosmos’ at Bishop’s College, in Colombo, with Indian musicians Sahana Benerjee at sitar and Prabhu Edouard at tablas. The multidisciplinary event open to all, will recognise other disciplines such as visual arts – cinema and urban art, literature and fashion and culminate in le 14 juillet, the National Day of France.   

Ambassador of France in Sri Lanka, Monsieur Eric Lavertu, speaking at the French Embassy in Colombo said, “We are pleased to have Kuwait Airways as Platinum sponsor and thank them for their participation in the French Spring Festival and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful collaboration in the future.”Kuwait Airways in Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Manager Sudesh Rupasinghe said of the partnership, “Kuwait Airways is very keen on fostering cultural growth and building cross cultural bridges and sees this as a prime opportunity to enhance the relationship Kuwait Airways has with both France and Sri Lanka. Further Kuwait Airways operates the world’s youngest fleet in and out of Colombo have enabled the airline to offer a vastly improved and superior quality product with access to the best tourist destinations in Europe including daily flights out of Kuwait to Paris and effective summer schedule Kuwait airways launch their second French destination Nice France in along with the luxury and finesse of one of the best First and Business class cabins available today.” Apart from flying to Paris, Rome and Milan, Kuwait Airways is also happy to introduce their latest destinations of Larnaca in Cyprus, Nice in France, Tbilisi in Georgia and Vienna and Malaga all of which are premier holiday destinations will be now accessible to passengers of Kuwait Airways as part of their Summer flight schedule. 

These prime tourist destinations will all be serviced by the world’s youngest fleet which includes the airline’s flagship Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operating out of Kuwait which is indeed good news for travellers. Further, passengers will be treated to an enhanced baggage allowance and free membership in Kuwait Airway’s Oasis Club Frequent Flyer program as an added benefit.
