Kurunegala Lake round recreational area opens to public

The first and second phase of the development of the area around the Kurunegala Lake were completed under the auspices of the Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities recently.

Under the program to improve recreational facilities for people of the area, an area covering 2.1 kilometres has been completed, Ministry officials said.

The completed area now consists of a path for walkers, a cycle path as well as an open-air exercise area for residents.

There are also restaurants with open air and indoor facilities to hosts parties and other events.

The project was developed under the guidance of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is also a MP for the Kurunegala District.
