Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association (CHSGA) entered into an agreement with American National College (ANC Education) with a view to upgrade the standards of the hospitality and tourism sectors in the country. The vehicle that would drive the industry forward would be through the MBA with Hospitality Management program, offered by the University of West London (UWL).

CHSGA believes that in a global industry as dynamic and diverse as hospitality, the Executive MBA program offered by UWL has taken a close look at new trends and changes in the industry, to tailor their programs to ensure they are designed to equip graduates with the relevant knowledge and hands-on experience, that will definitely raise the standards of the industry.

CHSGA’s strategic plan is to create a new breed of world class business leaders, who would think differently, have a broader perspective, and are on par with professionals from all over the world. CHSGA has seen the need to create a new generation of hospitality professionals who could challenge circumstances, and take on the role of furthering talent growth within the continuously developing hospitality and tourism industry. “The special attributes of the MBA program includes the soft skills, interpersonal abilities and flair for problem-solving with which UWL equips its students, which would no doubt be beneficial to the customer service of several industries that serve sophisticated clients who expect the highest standard of service,” said UWL’s Claude Littner Business School Dean Dr. Suresh Gamlath. He added, “The hallmark of this Executive MBA program is the diagnostic approach to the selection process which takes into consideration the candidates’ potential to be a strategic level thinker who can add value to any organisation that hires him/her. Indeed, UWL teaches students to embrace customer service through applied hands-on learning, innovation, attention to detail, responsiveness to customer demands and exposure to world class managerial systems. Learning, innovation and change is a distinctive part of our professional DNA. Graduates are expected to have the business acumen and customer and service skills that make UWC alumni so successful. As the academic dean of UWL, I see our students going on to be highly successful in their careers and lives.” CHSGA Strategy Committee Chairman Patrick Pereira said, “In keeping with our five year strategic plan, we have studied the contents of the program and are confident that it suits the future needs of the industry in the development of strategic leadership. In addition, the student competencies developed through the MBA program and courses are what employers need in order to take the industry forward.”

CHSGA Program Coordinator Dilan Bandara said, “It is rare that Sri Lankan hospitality professionals get an opportunity to have world class education right here in Sri Lanka; and we hope to provide that opportunity to all local hoteliers at an affordable rate with lots of other value additions as well.”
