CAASL issues new rules for airline crew layovers

  • Foreign airline crew barred from staying in Colombo hotels

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has said that all airlines had been instructed that foreign crew layovers could only be at a hotel in close proximity to the Bandaranaike Airport and not Colombo.

Issuing a directive CAASL Chairman Upul Dharmadasa said that crew layovers could only be at a hotel close to BIA such as Seeduwa, Katunayake, Negombo and Minuwangoda.

It also said that foreign airline crew were strictly prohibited from travelling to Colombo for crew layovers. 

This directive will be applicable with effect from 26 April until further notice.
