Zahira College Colombo Batch 2000 first inter batch cricket tournament on Monday

The Zahira College Colombo Batch 2000 will hold their first-ever inter batch cricket tournament titled ‘Batch Eke Match Eka’ on 24 September from 8 a.m. onwards at the Shalika Ground, Colombo 5. 

Batch 2000 expects this event to be an annual event and this year it is expected to attract more than 150 batch mates and provide a fun filled environment to showcase their talents. Underlining the huge interest in the tournament, batch mates have been seen playing practice matches for the tournament with much enthusiasm in the preceding weeks.

The intention of Batch 2000 in organising a festival of this nature is primarily to foster fellowship among the membership of Batch 2000 and provide an avenue to re-live the nostalgia of school life. Cricket being often called the gentlemen sport and also being the most popular sport among batch mates provides a perfect platform for such fellowship, promoting team building and discipline. The tournament will be held in a carnival atmosphere adding further colour to the event. Proceeds of the event will be used to fund marquee projects of Batch 2000, focused on increasing career development and commercial opportunities for alumni of Zahira College. Since its inception, Batch 2000 has taken a special interest in connecting Zahirians for the purpose of increasing professional and business activities. The cricket tournament is expected to further strengthen these initiatives by uniting members around these causes.
