Sri Lanka Jr. Men’s volleyball team eyes strong finish at Asian Championship

The 12-member strong U-23 team Men’s volleyball team leaves Sri Lankan shores this week to compete for a top finish at the Asian Volleyball Championship 2019, which will be worked-off from 3-11 August in Myanmar.

The team, led by K B M Shehan Lakshitha Bandara, is to compete against Myanmar, Australia and Hong Kong in Group A of the tourney’s preliminary match round. In the previous Asian Championship, Sri Lanka secured 10th place, while Iran became the overall champs.

The national junior spikers are sponsored by Dialog Axiata, Sri Lanka’s most prolific sponsor of sports, and is also the proud sponsor of the Sri Lankan National Cricket and Rugby, Volleyball and Net Ball teams.
