Singer league 2019 round 2 kicks off; Isipathana hold the edge

Isipathana will be one of the top  teams for Cup event

Isipathana placed number 2 in their group will lock horns with the gutsy Thomians outfit in the Cup encounter which will be worked off on 22 April in Mount Lavinia. The only unbeaten team in round 1, Joes led by Tharindu De Alwis and coached by Nilfer Ibrahim will be having a real test early in round 2 when they confront the ‘Black Horse’ of the Cup segment, Wesley College at Longdon Place.

Kandy will miss much of the Cup segment encounters but will be full of Plate matches when the Singer League 2019 round 2 kicks off on 20April in the Hills. Only Trinity secured their berth in the Cup while Kingswood, St. Anthony’s, along with Dharmaraja, Vidyartha, Sri Sumangala will compete in the 8 team plate event. Out of the eight teams,four teams will secure their place after the completion of round 2 for Singer League 2020 Cup event. Other three teams who will lock horns in the Plate encounters are Maliyadeva, Zahira and DS Senanayake. Points earned in round 1 against the respective teams (Plate) will be carried forward.
